Vlad the Impaler

Despite being his wife, the tender touch on her lips caught Regina off guard. It had been more than a while since she had received such affection. As Vlad's lips parted from hers, she quickly consumed the rest of her wine. Pouring more of the intoxicating liquid into her empty chalice, she spoke.

“That incompetent maid said you awaited my presence. Was there something you needed to tell me or did you just miss this beautiful face of mine?”

She could hardly believe the words she was saying, but she needed to act like a loving wife if she expected to live this life genuinely. “I always miss you when we're apart.” He replied, a grin forming on his stoic features. “But there was something I wanted to show you.” Moving over to the nearby dresser, he grabbed a faded copper colored box that had intricate engravings etched into the metal. “Open it, my love.” Regina reluctantly took the box from him, undoing the latch and lifting the lid to uncover a beautifully designed necklace. Dozens of diamonds and pink emeralds encrusted the expensive piece of jewelry. She was mesmerized as she starred at the gift she had just received. The fact that the priceless piece of jewelery was given to her didn't take her breath away, but Vlad's kindness did. Did he really love her so much that he would shower her with sweet words and unexpected gifts? “Well, what do you think? I figured you could wear it to the masquerade ball we're attending in Budapest.”

“Why would you go through the trouble of getting me something?”

She asked as she doubted his intentions.

“Have you offended me in such a way that you thought that only an object could win back my affection?”

Her tone was shrill and cold, but his touch was gentle and warm as he cupped her cheek. “I hope to never offend you in any way. I love you and I /want/ to give you things as a sign of my affection. After all, you're my Queen.” Before any more words could be exchanged, Regina locked her lips with his. He pulled her close, pushing them both onto their soft bed. She didn't love him and she certainly knew that, but was it so wrong to crave the sensual touch of another human? It had been so long since her last dalliance, and this body wasn't truly hers anyways. This was her past life. A life where Vlad and her were happily married. So she fed into the temptation and gave herself to the man who had shown nothing but kindness to her in their one brief encounter....

Regina awoke to silk sheets hugging her slender body like smooth velvet. She rolled over to notice that Vlad was no longer in bed with her. She slipped on a loose nightgown before walking out onto the balcony. It was still dark out and the stars were still visible overhead. The view overlooked a steep drop into a rocky abyss. Perhaps the castle was situated in such rough terrain to deter attacks from enemies. Looking down, she could clearly see a private courtyard. She was only just noticing this, but the courtyard could only be accessed by the balcony that extended off of her room. Before she had the chance to go downstairs and explore the courtyard for herself, she noticed that Vlad was already down there with the same young maiden that had escorted Regina to her room earlier. The servant's hands were bound with rope and her mouth was covered tightly with cloth, eluding the sound of her cries. Her blonde hair flowed in the wind and Regina could see sweat glistening all over her youthful face. What was going on? There was no time for her to process what was happening, instead she just kept starring down at both individuals. Vlad began to speak as he pushed the maiden's hair away from the exposed skin on her neck. “I apologize for this, I really do. But your services haven't satisfied my Queen... And I'm famished.” He drew himself closer to the trembling female and sunk his teeth into her pale flesh. Regina's eyes grew wide in shock. She wanted to run back inside, but it was as if her body was frozen in place, forced to watch the horror. The maiden's body became limp and Vlad caught her in his arms as he continued gnawing at her flesh. When he was done with her, he placed her on the ground. He waved his arms towards the night sky and a swarm of bats flew out from the endless rocky terrain surrounding the castle. In one swift movement, the bats joined together to form a giant mass, collecting the young woman's body. Then Vlad charged off of the edge of the castle, disappearing into the unknown with his nocturnal creatures. Regina felt numb as she took slow steps back into her bedchambers. She touched her lips and cringed at the thought of kissing the man who dug his teeth into an innocent woman. Laying back in bed, she tightly clung to the silk sheets. It was all making sense to her now. Now that she could see past his loving exterior, the truth behind this life was making its way to the surface. Having heard the gruesome stories of previous monarch's, she still never would've imagined that some of those tales had any validity to them. But this was one piece of history that was true. Vlad was none other than Dracula himself.

Sleep eluded her, so Regina tried to justify Vlad's actions as she lay still in bed. Not so long ago she was rightfully scrutinized as the Evil Queen. She had ordered villages to be burned down and men, women, and children were put to death. She ripped out countless hearts, using them to manipulate people or to simply crush them for fun. She had no regard for anyone's happiness but her own. Storybrooke and the people cursed to live there for countless redundant years were proof of that. If she could commit so many wrongs and and still be given a second chance, maybe Vlad deserved that same respect? Who knows what cursed him to become a blood-sucking monster? Perhaps he unwittingly became something he could not change. Regina groaned as she rolled onto her side. Rumpelstiltskin could've chosen not to succumb to evil. He could've cleansed himself of dark magic and lived a close-to-normal life with Belle, but he was too weak and idiotic to change his ways. If Vlad really wanted to continue living righteously while under such a curse, could he not drink the blood of animals instead of feeding on innocent mortals? Regina may have ended lives, but she never feasted on people. Vlad was a monster dabbling in satanic territory. It was time she realized that some things weren't capable of change... And those things needed to be stopped.

Just as the sun's rays we're finding their way into the dark room to brighten it up, she heard heavy footsteps drawing closer and closer to the bed. Suddenly, a muscular arm wrapped around the small of her waist and tender lips grazed her forehead. Regina instantly got out of bed, creating amply distance between Vlad and herself. She quickly rummaged through the armoire, grabbing the first outfit she could find. "Where are you going, my love?" Vlad asked, curiously. "It's barely morning. Let's stay here awhile."

"No, no. Lets no." The brunette blurted out as she quickly changed into the proper attire that would allow her to roam through the castle as Queen.

She noticed the displeasure on Vlad's face and knew she needed to justify herself.

"It's just that I have a busy day today. My new lady arrived last night and there's much we need to discuss."

That was an understatement to say the least. "I'll see you later then." The King replied as he caught up to Regina, who was already halfway to the door.

"If you insist."

Regina whispered under her breath knowing she was being too blunt with her replies. Vlad pulled Regina in for a kiss, and despite her lips wanting to jump off of her face and flee, she was forced to give into the affection to keep up pretenses. Then, Regina made her way to the door, but before exciting the room, she needed to ask him one thing.

"I noticed you were missing from our bed for some time last night."

She turned to face him as an inquisitive expression graced her features.

"Where were you?"

"Ah, yes." Vlad replied calmly. "I couldn't sleep so I took a stroll around the castle per others to check on our defenses. We can never be too careful when it comes to protecting our Kingdom from invaders."

"I see." Regina replied before leaving the room.

Her dress flowed behind her as she walked in a steady pace towards Davi's room. Once she arrived at her destination, she stormed into the room, slamming the door shut behind her.

"Davi, you will /not/ believe what I saw last night."
